Guelph Storm
The Guelph Storm play in Guelph,Ontario,Canada. The play at the Sleeman Centre. The franchise started as the Toronto Marlboros, and in 1989 the Marlboros moved to Hamilton to become the Dukes of Hamilton. Following the 1990-1991 season, the franchise was relocated to Guelph. The Storm have reached the Memorial Cup 4 times 3 of which they finished in 4th(last)in 96,02, and 04 but in 98 they lost in the finals to the Portland Winter Hawks. The teqam has an assortment of Nhl Alummuni soem include Craig Anderson, Ken Belanger, Todd Bertuzzi, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Dan Cloutier, Jeff Cowan, Kevin Dallman, Aaron Downey, Cam Janssen, Manny Malhotra, Brian McGrattan, Rumun Ndur, Jeff O'Neill, Ryan Parent, Fedor Tyutin and Brian Willsie. The Guelph Storm have one Retired number 18 who belonged to Paul Fendley who was a former member of the Guelph CMC's who died in an on-ice accident at Guelph Memorial Gardens in 1972. His number has been officially retired by the city of Guelph and is not issued to any hockey players at any level within the city. Some of the awards this teams players have recieved include in 1992 Jeff O'Neill, won the Jack Ferguson Award First Overall draft pick) & Emms Family Award (Rookie of the Year), in 1993-94 Jeff O'Neill won CHL Top Draft Prospect Award, in 1994-95 Jamie Wright won the Bobby Smith Trophy (Scholastic Player of the Year) and Mark McArthur & Andy Adams won the Dave Pinkney Trophy (Lowest team GAA), in 1995-96 Dan Cloutier & Brett Thompson won the Dave Pinkney Trophy (Lowest team GAA) and Brett Thompson won the F.W. 'Dinty' Moore Trophy (Best rookie GAA)and Jeff Williams won the William Hanley Trophy (Most Sportsmanlike Player), in 1997-98 Manny Malhotra won the Bobby Smith Trophy (Scholastic Player of the Year)
